“I’ll fight for sound policy over sound bites, and bring my experience, clarity, and passion to the Minnesota House!”

Hi, I’m Travis!

Hi, I’m Travis Thompson. I’m a father, attorney, volunteer, and 14-year resident of Crystal, MN running for the DFL endorsement for Minnesota State House in District 43A. I’ve spent my life fighting for working families, immigrants, renters, homeowners, and communities in need because I grew up facing many of the same challenges. This community deserves a representative who understands these challenges. As your representative, I’ll fight for sound policy over sound bites, and bring my experience, clarity, and passion to the Minnesota House!

Policy positions.

Public Safety

Minnesota must confront cruelty and federal overreach by protecting residents’ civil rights. Travis proposes legislation barring state and local cooperation with ICE without judicial warrants, banning deceptive or masked federal enforcement tactics in the state, and creating a Minnesota Department of Federal Oversight to document abuses and coordinate future prosecutions of agencies that violate Minnesotans’ rights.

Affordability

Travis champions healthcare as a human right by expanding public options toward single payer, negotiating lower drug prices, and protecting reproductive freedom. He supports universal childcare, fully funded daycare nutrition, and expanded pre-K. His housing plan boosts mixed-use construction, aids cities, and protects seniors. He also backs living wages, union rights, and stronger worker protections.

Democracy &
Government Reform

Travis argues that a healthy democracy requires full participation. He supports implementing ranked-choice voting statewide, protecting Minnesotans’ sensitive voter data from federal misuse, and making caucuses, primaries, and general elections full-day holidays so workers and parents are not forced to choose between voting and meeting basic needs.

Climate, Energy, & Jobs

Travis emphasizes urgent climate action as essential to protecting the planet while creating good-paying jobs. He supports expanding solar, wind, geothermal, and nuclear energy to achieve Minnesota’s energy independence, converting coal plants into long-duration energy storage using existing infrastructure, and strengthening protections for the state’s natural resources for future generations.

Education

Travis believes a strong Minnesota depends on an educated, supported workforce. He will fight for full healthcare coverage and collective bargaining rights for educators and classroom paraprofessionals, expand BCBA licensure and special education services, and create scholarships and loan forgiveness programs to recruit and retain graduates who commit to teaching in public universities.

Make a donation.

Did you know that every Minnesota resident can contribute $75 to a candidate and get reimbursed by the state through the MN Political Contribution Refund (PCR)?

That is correct. The first $75 per individual (or $150 per couple) of a donation to a candidate can be refunded per calendar year. This is money you’ve already spent with your tax dollars being routed to support your political interests. You can claim this once per calendar year.

Donations help Travis build momentum for the primary election to come. Any donation you make is extremely helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Real conversations. Real action.

Whether it’s a Meet & Greet to hear what Travis has to say about policy positions and current events or caucuses where your voice and your action is needed to make a difference, it’s all here on our calendar.
